INAUGURAL BUSINESS CUP WAS A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
On Tuesday 24th March, Powell’s sponsorship of the inaugural Daytona Manchester Business Cup came to a thrilling climax with a nailbiting finish to the final round.
With £500 worth of Daytona race vouchers and a PR package from Powells at stake, tournament leaders, Transline watched on nervously as race leaders, Allcom, pushed hard to break their completed laps record.
Fortunately for Transline, the fibre optic cable specialists came up short of their Round 2 197 lap total, handing the Halifax based driver recruitment firm the spoils.
Speaking after the podium presentation Transline Director Jon Taylor said: “Needless to say, we are very relieved! We’ve been hooked since the second round and are just glad we managed to hang on at the end. We’ll definitely be back next year to defend our crown but for now we’ll enjoy our prizes.”
The three-round Le Mans-style team endurance cup brought businesses together from across the region to compete for the mantle of ‘The Fastest Business in the North’.
Powell Managing Director, Brian Johnson said: “This year’s Business Cup was a toe in the water for both Daytona and ourselves to see if it would attract the right kind of interest from the business community. Following the overwhelming success of the tournament we look forward to continuing our sponsorship of it next year and to helping Daytona develop it into a regular event on the region’s corporate calendar.”
